Cell Phone with Bluetooth Voice Dialing

Voice dialing has been around for awhile but in the past you had to dial into your carrier’s remote system if the option was available.  Now however more and more servers are able to record your voice and recognize it.

Do you wonder how this works?  If you want to add a name to your contact list find add contacts.  You will be prompted to say Susan.  You may have to say Susan three times so that the phone records the unique characteristics of your voice.  Then you will be asked to dial the number for the very last time.

Once you have a few numbers on your contact list all you need to do is press a special key sequence and then say the name of the person you want to call.  Some voice activated phones will ask who would you like to call as soon as you flip the cover open.

Certain models of voice enabled phones will also let you use voice commands to access pictures, music, internet, contacts and more.

Added voice activated applications not only increase your cost, but also increase the weight and size.

Not all phones offer all features and the number of contacts they phone can hold varies from phone to phone.  Some only allow ten contacts.  Ericsson’sT182 only holds ten voice dialed names but weighs much less than Ericsson’s SCH-3500 does.

If you use your cell primarily for work you very well may want to get the one which would give you the most voice dial numbers that you can record and call.

This is the perfect phone for those who do a lot of driving for work such as cabbies, long haul truck drivers, sales reps, commercial and school bus drivers.

In a few years the manufacturers of cell phones may find something even more revolutionary than the voice dialed phones.  My daughter has a voice activated phone that also has a TV, a full QWERTY keyboard, and GPS and all of the usual phone features.

Most states in the U.S. have bans on hand held usage of cell phones.  A voice activated phone is a blessing for those who must use their cell phone for work.  Not only can they take calls hands free, but now can make calls also hands free.

This is a great idea.  However use it sparingly since it can be hard to concentrate on what is happening on the highway while chatting on the phone.  I still want to get a Bluetooth voice dialing phone to use for work and when traveling to visit friends and family.
