Transfer Phone Contacts Via Bluetooth
If you are planning to buy a new cell phone you will want to transfer your phone contacts from your old phone to the new one via Bluetooth. When purchasing your new phone ask the clerk for information on how to transfer your contact list/phone book to your new phone.
You can get on line and download software that will allow you to transfer your contact list to your new phone. Most of the time this software is free at your old phone’s web site.
Install the software to your laptop.
- Make sure that the computer’s Bluetooth (wireless) switch is in the on position. Carefully follow the on screen instructions.
- Make sure that both your phone and your PC are Bluetooth enabled.
- Click on start button then control panel
- Next double click on Bluetooth devices, choose “add device”. Once it has completed its search you pick a password XXXX.
- Enter your password using the same password used on your computer.
Your phone and computer can now “talk” to one another.
Now run the software that came with your Bluetooth enabled phone. Now you can send your contact list to your new phone using the cable that came with the new phone.
Each phone manufacturer issues their own instructions with the phone and the way you upload to your phone can be slightly different than the instructions we have here or the directions from another phone manufacturer. When in doubt use the directions for your specific phone.
Once you have successfully downloaded your contact list/address book to your computer save it just in case you may need it again. For instance if your phone gets lost or some damage occurs that makes it unusable you can retrieve your address book from your PC.
You can do the same thing with pictures saved on your phone provided your phone is Bluetooth enabled. The process is basically the same as for the contact list. If your phone has a PDA you can also back up that data onto your computer for later retrieval. This can be useful for planning vacations or business trips. You can send your schedules for that upcoming business trip or send it to your parents so they can plan a visit when you can spend time with them.
Send your business contact list to your office manager, again in case something happens with your phone, she will have the numbers you need and your scheduled meetings information such as when, where and who with. The idea of being able to have your phone contact clients backed up on your laptop can make your life a whole lot easier.
