How to Sync a Bluetooth Headset
Almost everywhere you go these days hand held use of cell phones while driving is banned. The fines can be hefty. It used to be a secondary offense, which means the police, didn’t stop you unless there was another violation.
Many municipalities have now made this a primary offense and you can be stopped for having your cell phone in your hand. These laws have increased the demand for Bluetooth enabled phones and compatible headsets. Now you are asking how do I put the BT device together with my phone. Each phone is different and may have instructions that are different from what we will talk about here. Your Bluetooth device may also come with directions on how to sync it to your cell phone.
We will discuss the basic steps so that you can read to understand how it is done. It may or may not work with your phone and headset.
Step I – Leave the headset closed, press and hold the multi-function on your beam headset. The light will turn blue.
Step II – Open the microphone/headset. The light should stay on. If not repeat step one.
Step III – Access your mobile phone’s menu. Select connection, choose Bluetooth hands free and then new device. Once a connection is found select H5810.
Step IV – You will be prompted to enter a pass code. Enter 0000 to verify that a connection has taken place. Your phone should read Bluetooth Connection.
After the start up connection is successful all that remains to be done is power on the headpiece and the phone should recognize your headset. Now go to the headset, press settings, then connections – the Bluetooth link. Scroll to set up and select. Next scroll to power and choose change. Go to on and press select. The screen will read changed power on. You will want to confirm the connections. Do so by closing the headset and your cell phone should read disconnected. Reopen the headset and now the phone will read Bluetooth connected.
Of course you know that this information assumes that both your headset and phone are Bluetooth enabled and that all of the above steps are followed. If you can’t sync your headset to the phone, look for the directions that came with your enabled phone and try again. If your phone is more than a few years old it may not be Bluetooth enabled. If you decide to get a new phone, find out if your local police department collects and refurbishes them for battered women or seniors.
As you can see these directions are not phone model specific. They are meant as a guide and they may help you to better understand the techno talk that is used in many user manuals. Even with a hand free cell phone keep talk time to a minimum. You can’t carry on a conversation and give full attention to what is going on around you on the highway.
Many European nations and Canada also have cell phone laws. So be sure to have a hands free headset.
