How to Hook Up a Bluetooth Headset to an I-Phone
You have decided to buy a new i-phone and want to get Bluetooth head set but have no idea of how to make them work together. Don’t worry, it isn’t as complicated as one might imagine. First you need to ask the clerk where you buy your i-phone if the phone is Bluetooth enabled, which at this point in time most likely are. Just about all phones have this installed.
Every cell phone model is different and your instructions for connecting a Bluetooth headset to your iPhone may be different from what my Samsung instructions tell me to do. There are several earpieces available for the iPhone, but overall the best we found was the Jawbone Bluetooth Headset from Aliph. Now how do you hook it up to the phone? This is probably the easiest Bluetooth to phone set up ever.
1. Make sure that both the phone and headset are fully charged. You will know it is fully charged when the light glows white.
2. Turn on the headset.
3. Turn on the i-phone, go to general, select Bluetooth and turn it on.
4. Place the Jawbone next to the iPhone, it will show up as discoverable device. Tap on it and type in the factory pin. The headset will be listed and it reads “paired” and it is done.
When you get an incoming call you press the earpiece towards the back to answer. Press and hold the same button for one second to hang up. The sound quality is good and the noise reduction is great, probably the best I’ve tried so far. There is a problem with the charger and headset in that they don’t provide a hard case for storage. The charger has two metal prongs that are exposed and have to be really tugged at to remove it from the headset.
You do get additional ear hooks (one for the left ear, a large and standard size). They also supply you with an AC adapter to plug into the charger. But again there is no case to protect the exposed prongs. However you can probably purchase something that would work, but it would be nice if the device came with a protective case. Maybe if enough users complain Aliph will do something about it. Overall the i-phone is easy to connect to a hands free device, easy and fun to use with this hands free head set or any other that is compatible.
Whatever headset you choose read the directions that come with the unit and those that came with your phone so that you have no problems connecting your i-phone to a hands free device. You will not regret buying your i-phone or a hands free device since in most states there are laws about talking on your hand held phone while driving.
