Connect Bluetooth Phone and Car Stereo
Wouldn’t it be cool if you could listen to your coming calls through your car stereo system. Well it is possible. When you purchase a new car you can usually order it with a Bluetooth enabled sound system. It will of course add a few hundred dollars to the cost.
Or you can have it installed in your car by a technician at a car stereo shop. If you choose to have a stereo head unit that has built in Bluetooth be aware that they start at about $400.00 for the unit and then you have to pay for the installation.
You can also buy devices such as the Parrot or a unit from Motorola that will mute the music when you get an incoming call just as if you had a factory installed integrated system.
There are Bluetooth speakerphone devices that can be powered by your car’s cigarette lighter’s port or you can use batteries (preferably rechargeable). This doesn’t go through your speakers and will not mute your music. If you want to get a stereo headset with built in Bluetooth be aware that they start at about $400.00 U.S. or more before installation.
Installing a unit like the Parrot isn’t really a do it yourself project unless you are thoroughly familiar with your car’s wiring system and how to add the device without shorting it out. Do you really want to spend the money and time to do this project?
The parrot allows you to have picture and name caller ID that is nice when you are traveling and missing your family.
There are several Bluetooth car devices that can be used in your car and you can do hands free calling. You can also get GPS systems, TV and more, all of which use Bluetooth technology in order to function properly.
Of course you can still use your hands fee cell phone with a Bluetooth headset or ear bud. Many high-end cars are being made with Bluetooth enabled sound systems which allows the hands free use of your cell phone.
I remember many years ago when a rather well off relative had a phone installed in his car. He allowed us to call our friends and brag. Of course he also had a high-end luxury car, which we loved to be driven around in.
Bluetooth is used to power not only cell phone usage but also WiFi enabled computers, GPS systems and much more. Cell phones now have PDA’s, television, news, weather and also play music and if you have a Bluetooth sound system in your car you can access many of these services, some of which may cost you a small fee.
