Bluetooth Phone to Car Radio

With the widespread ban on hand held use of cell phones, wouldn’t it be great if you could have your incoming calls routed to your car radio.  When you purchase a new car, you can generally order your vehicle with a Bluetooth enabled radio/sound system.  Of course it will add to the total cost of the car.

If you aren’t ready to get a new car your can have a Bluetooth car radio/sound system installed by a technician into the car you have now.  You can get a headset that is Bluetooth enabled which will allow you to hear your call through your car radio.

A built in Bluetooth sound system will mute the music when you get a call.  There are also devices by Parrot or Motorola that will also mute the music, just as if you had a factory installed unit.

There are speakerphone devices that can be powered through your car’s a/c port however your music is not muted and your calls do not go through your speakers.

Installing a unit such as the Parrot isn’t probably something you want to do yourself unless you have experience with the wiring system and how to add this type of device without causing your electrical system to fail.  Do you really want to spend the time, money and energy to do this job yourself.

The Parrot allows you to have your caller ID display names and pictures for incoming calls which is neat if you are missing your family while traveling for business.

There are several devices and phones that when paired can provide you not only with hands free cell phone use and GPS, TV and more, all of which use Bluetooth technology in order to function.  Of course you can still use a phone and headset or ear bud while driving.

Many high end cars are now being marketed with built in Bluetooth enabled sound systems, which let you, use the Bluetooth connection to access hand held cell phone use and other Bluetooth services.

Just because you can keep both hands on the steering wheel doesn’t mean that you can concentrate on what is happening on the highway.  In this case even a momentary loss of attention could be fatal to you and others.

Besides cell phones Bluetooth technology also provides WiFi enabled computers, GPS and more.  Cell phones now have TV, PDA, calculators, music and stock reports, news, sports and weather many or which you can access through your car radio’s sound system.  Some of the services may cost you a fee.

When you decide to get a new car it may be worthwhile to pay the extra for a built in enabled audio system, especially if you do a lot of driving.
