Do you want points on your license and heavy fines because you took a call on your cell phone while driving? Of course not! However every day more and more countries, cities, states and provinces are banning hand held use of a cell phone while driving.
Many high-end automobile manufacturers are now presenting models that have built in Bluetooth that you can sync with your cell phone.
Audi is one such company. Your phone is paired with the system via an adapter. Your Audi dealer can get you and adapter for almost any standard business phone.
You can access the hands free unit via the speak button on the adapter set or through an optional leather covered multi-function steering wheel. If your car has a driver information system, it will display phone numbers and other information stored in the memory. Such as the caller’s name and other info such as number-name and function-000.0000-name-company, etc. This can be helpful if you have more than one person with the same name.
Not every Bluetooth phone is compatible. Contact your Audi dealer for a list of Bluetooth phones that will work with your new vehicle. You must have the latest Bluetooth software update and you also need to allow remote sim in the Bluetooth menu.
Connect phone to car via BT. When connected go it mmi in phone settings and select contacts from sim an phone. It will take a few minutes to get all contacts to transfer to the car. Your car must be running during the procedure.
Audi constantly works to find the best mobile phones that you can pair with their built in Bluetooth. So ask your Audi dealer which phone is best for your new car.
It may seem a bit difficult or confusing but your Audi dealer should be able to help with any problems you have in pairing your phone with the car’s Bluetooth system. Just follow the directions in your user’s manual.
Hands free cell phone use while driving is of course a great idea and does help to keep you and others safe. However you should keep your hands free calls as short as possible since you can’t really give your full attention to what is going on around you on the highway while having a conversation with your client or family member.
When you shop for a new Audi automobile, make sure that you get one that has Bluetooth installed. You won’t be disappointed. It won’t be long before the mid priced auto companies begin offering this technology to their customers.
Of course Bluetooth will add some cost to your Audi or any other car that has this technology pre installed and cell phone ready.
