It is possible to use free WIFI at home. You may not feel the immediate need for it due to the internet connection you already have in place. However, if you move you may want to find out if you can pick up on a signal from a neighbor, hotels, or other types of businesses in the area. It is legal so don’t worry that you are doing something against the law this way. In fact, more people are discovering they can access free WIFI at home and now they aren’t afraid to use it.
Now, some people though take it a step too far. They connect to their neighbor’s internet access that is not secure. That is illegal if you are routing wires and cables into your home. However, when it is a wireless connection you gain from their set up then there is no reason that you will end up in any type of trouble.
For those that are in college or struggling to make ends meet, the computer may still be a necessity. With free WI-FI though you don’t have to decide if you want to pay for internet access that month or to have enough groceries or money for gas. Many people work from home and do have internet access for accessing email. Thanks to free WIFI though someone else in the household can access the internet on a laptop. This can help to reduce tensions in the home when everyone seems to feel that their needs on the computer take priority over those of everyone else.
With more and more hotspots out there cropping up every day, it is easier to access free WIFI than before. If you haven’t tried this for a while, you may want to do so again and see what happens. Use several areas of your home too in order to try to pinpoint the best locations. If you still can’t get anything continue to examine the possibilities now and then.
One thing that parents need to be aware of is that kids are extremely well informed about how all of this works. You may have a computer in a central location where you can monitor their use of it. Yet you may not realize that they are accessing free WIFI at home on other computers or devices. You want to make sure that they aren’t using it without your consent. Many parents find out the hard way that their children have been able to access such information.
If you know that it is possible for them to access free WIFI from your house then you should have a safety net in place. Consider buying a wireless router and then setting up parental controls with it. This will give you peace of mind and it helps to offer some additional types of supervision for your children. You can encrypt the information so that nobody can access your network and use your problem to go online.
