How to Connect PC and Phone with Bluetooth
Wouldn’t it be great to send pictures and files from your phone to your computer or from your PC to your mobile phone? Well it can be done by following a few steps that may seem confusing at first. Read the directions through before you begin. It isn’t all that difficulty.
If your computer does not have Bluetooth built in you will need to purchase a dongle at a cost of ten to thirty dollars U.S. Put the dongle in the computer. If the computer has an internal Bluetooth activate it by turning on the switch on the side of your laptop.
Windows will normally install the drivers automatically if not you will have to install them manually.
Look in your windows system tray for the Bluetooth icon. Right click on select and then choose Bluetooth, then click on settings then on options and select turn discovery on. Activate and configure Bluetooth on your phone and give a name. Which can be seen by other Bluetooth users while searching. Set Bluetooth visibility show (to all or visible). Locate Bluetooth settings in your phone and turn it on.
On your PC right click on Bluetooth at the bottom of the device tab. Select add Bluetooth. The device wizard will show up on your screen. Select: my device is set up and ready to be found, then click next. If wizard can’t find the device refer back to turning on the computer’s Bluetooth.
You will be prompted to enter a pass code. Select let me choose my own. For some reason Windows likes 8 to 16 digits. Now your computer will attempt to connect to your cell phone. It will also ask for a pass key. Use the same one as you did for the computer. If you are asked to accept a connection from the computer select yes. You can now transfer files. Right click on Bluetooth icon in the Windows system tray and choose receive files.
You phone may have somewhat different directions than these, in that case follow the directions you got with your phone.
Locate a picture or file on your phone and then select send via Bluetooth connection. Your phone will search for a Bluetooth signal within range and display the ones which are paired with devices. Select your computer and the file will transfer. Your computer will ask for a file name and ask you to enter a location for the file, such as desk top, documents, pictures, etc. Can you send a file to your phone? If your phone has a USB port you can transport a file to your phone via a cable.
With the way wireless/Bluetooth technology is developing we may very well soon be able to send a file from the PC to the cell phone wirelessly with just a touch of a button. Bluetooth rules!
