How To Build A Wifi Signal Booster

Because the intelligence of common people has always been astonishing, we can expect to find some ways to expand the range and quality of our wireless network signal without having to actually buy devices that do this for us. If you are into electronics or if you simply want to improve your wireless signal without having to spend a dime, here are some ways to build your own signal booster out of stuff you will find around your house.

The first thing you can do when you want to improve the signal quality is to build a parabolic antenna out of Asian cooking strainers. You will have to choose the strainer so that the rings are not too wide, then cut it in a parabolic shape and leave a small hole in the middle of the circle. Here you will stick a signal enhance, as a USB wireless adapter, that it connected to your computer or router with a small cable.

The USB cable and the adapter cost very low, and the total costs of this device are below 10 dollars. The results are quite astonishing, because if it is proper positioned near a window it can reach wireless signals that come from very remote outside locations. If your purpose is to enhance the signal inside the home, then position this antenna somewhere near a door, in the middle of the home, if the UBS cable permits it.

There is another very cheap way to try and make a home booster for the wireless signal. This booster is made out of an empty metal can. You will simply have to get an old can, clean it well and detach the upper part, then let it dry. It doesn’t matter if this was a tin can full of soda or beans or whatever else, as long as it is an empty can now.

The things needed for this device are the can itself, a connector that can connect a wire to a thicker part, or to connect the wireless wire on side and screw on a insolated wire on the other part, some bolts and nuts, usually in pairs of four. You will need to make some holes on a lateral part of the can so you can attach the wires and the connector to it, with the bolts’ help.

For a regular can that can hold about 280 grams of food, that’s taller rather than wider, the upper diameter is of about 3 inches. In this case, the holes will be drilled in the middle of the can. You might need to experiment a bit, because in the end the exact location of these holes also depends on the frequency of your network.

Get the wire and stick it into the connector, then put it other end into the can, through the holes. You will have to use the blots to stick the connecter to the can. Place the nuts outside for an easier installation. On the other end of the connector you need to place a pig tail cable, which comes from the router or wireless Pc card and gives wireless signal to this antenna. This is all there’s to it, expect for the fact that you need to adjust the dimensions of all the cables to fit perfectly for your needs.
