How Do I Access a Secured Wireless Network
People all over the world are usually keeping their wireless access point secured because they do not want to allow intruders and hackers to access their personal files or to make use of their internet bandwidth. The basic methods of protection for a wi-fi protected access are the ones that include prompting for username and password each time someone is trying to connect to the wireless network. Since everyone that has a laptop and is located in the vicinity of your wireless access point can get access to the network, you will often choose to protect it with a pass phrase.
Still, if you are not able to find an alternative internet connection at some point you might feel tempted to access the wireless card on another computer. If the wireless access is not protected by an encryption key, then you should encounter no problems connecting to that network. However, wireless router access points will usually allow only protected access. In this case you need at least the pre-shared key of the router, since most people do not think of changing the key in the router configuration. But to access the router page you have to type in the ip address corresponding to its model and manufacturer. Most ips are available around the internet, and they are fixed for most wep configuration routers.
The further security key of the router will involve the WEP and WPA protocols. If you want to connect to someone else’s internet connection you have to crack these encryption protocols. The LAN access can not be obtained unless you will successfully connect to network through the router. Since some networks are protected both by router encryptions and by password prompting when accessing the network, you might need to use some hacking software programs that can generate various types of ip for you or can simply decrypt the passwords used. But be ware that in some cases the networks you would like to access are protected by a network key because that’s what the user wants and braking in the network is considered equally illegal as braking in someone’s home.
If you can gain access to a secured windows network you can still be detected by the owner, because they can verify the packets of information sent from a certain ip address and then correlate them to you ip address by entering the access point device and viewing the list of connected ips. Your personal information is also at risk when connecting to the web using someone else’s network and your current laptop ip address becomes visible. It’s best not to connect to such a network unless it is not protected or only if you can get the password and username from the owner.
