Bluetooth from Computer to my Cell Phone
If your computer doesn’t have built in Bluetooth you will need to get a “dongle” at a cost of $10.00 to $30.00. Put the dongle into the computer. However if your computer has an internal Bluetooth you need to activate it using the switch on the side of your laptop.
Some computers will automatically install the drivers, but you may have to install them manually. To activate your Bluetooth look for the icon in the system tray. Right click on it and select Bluetooth settings. Next click on options, choose turn discovery on.
Now activate and configure Bluetooth on phone and give the phone a name but be aware that it can be seen by other Bluetooth users when searching for a compatible device (printer, PC, etc.).
Set Bluetooth visibility – shown to all a visible. Turn off when not in use. Now you have to pair the phone and PC. Locate Bluetooth settings in phone and turn on Bluetooth.
From your computer right click on Bluetooth at bottom of device tab. Click on add Bluetooth then add. Bluetooth wizard will come up, select “my device is set up and ready to be found.” Click on next. If the wizard can’t find the device (your phone) go back to the phone and try the activation process again.
You will be prompted to enter a pass key, click on let me choose my own. For some reason windows likes 8 to 16 digits. Your computer will try to connect to your phone via Bluetooth. If this is successful your phone will ask you for a pass key. Use the same one as the computer. If you are asked to accept a connection from your computer select yes. You can now begin to transfer files. Right click on receive.
All phones are different but this is the basic method for transferring files: Locate picture on your phone and select send via Bluetooth connection. Your phone will search in its range and display those which are paired with devices. Select your computer. Your file will now transfer. Your computer will want a file name and choose a location for the file.
Use the user manual that came with your phone for specific directions on how to pair your particular phone to your computer. Of course you realize that your phone and computer must both have Bluetooth in order to transfer files. Believe me people have complained they can’t make it work, come to find out their computer is not Bluetooth enabled or they used an article like this without checking the directions for their specific phone.
It is great to be able to send pictures and other files from your phone to your computer without having to deal with cables from the phone to the computer.
This may seem like a complicated procedure but once you have done it a couple of times you’ll be able to do the transfers without even looking at the directions.
