Building A Wifi Networking Antenna Using A Sattilite Dish

You can use a satellite dish to help you create a viable WIFI network antenna. It is a bit complex but once you learn the basic steps of it this will make perfect sense for you. In fact some people have been able to create them from recycled satellite dishes so there was very little money involved for them in getting it all taken care of.

You do need to make sure you have all of the necessary components though or it won’t work well once you put it up. This is because the socket has a filter inside of it. This can block the WIFI signal from being picked up. Check this out and then remove it from the socket if necessary. The cables need to be sturdy and in good shape so carefully examine them as well. If they aren’t then the cables can result in much of the signal being lost during the transfer process.

In many instances the transmitter for the satellite dish itself may be all mixed up as well. This can prevent the WIFI signal from coming through like it should. This is why you will read information online where some people have had excellent results with this type of wireless network being created. However, you will read just as much information out there about people that haven’t had any luck with it at all.

The best way to help ensure you are able to get it to work though is to remove the transmitter completely from the satellite dish (LMB). Replace it with a USB WIFI stick which you can pick up for a very affordable cost. Then you will only be using the shell of the satellite for the signal and there is very little chance that it will be interrupted before it leaves that device.

Such a project can help you to break through the common barriers out there with WIFI access. For example it can help you to get a better signal when the walls are thick and preventing one from really coming through. You may also be stuck in an apartment block so therefore are not able to put an antenna on the roof this option has been used by many people to set up their networks and is not that difficult to build a. I came across one case where the copper coax was already in place and a dish on the wall so all the guy needed to do was buy a connector take off the LMB and connected directly to his router this is a quick fix but the fact that the sat dish was already in place was obviously a great benefit.

It can also help to get some type of signal where there wasn’t one at all before. This can completely change the way in which you are able to successfully access your wireless network.

While there are ways to do this that are more technologically advanced, many of them aren’t as fun of a project to complete. They also aren’t as affordable. This process allows you to reap the rewards with a very low investment or nothing at all if you can get a used satellite for it and you have some other items lying around in the garage.
