Zebra 170Xi4 Printer
The zebra 170Xi4 is a terminal printer terminal barcode label printer that offers plenty of flexibility for users. It can easily pop on to any network using (nic) ethernet cables as it comes with Internal ZebraNet 10/100 PrintServer. It also comes with USB and RS-232 parallel ports. It also has the capability to use wireless but it’s quite difficult reading the specifications as to whether this is installed or is an added feature that you must purchase. As you may know already Zebra have authorized distributors in many different countries around the world who can’t offer a comprehensive support and have many applications to support the various needs that their printers require.
In terms of resolution it can print 203/300 dpi and can print the labels 6.6″ width. One important aspect of these princes is obviously the speed it can out when connected to a computer. The 170Xi4 can print up to 12 inches per second if you are printing act 203 dpi.
I have used a number of zebra printers in the past I’m one of the features that I particularly like with their equipment is the auto calibration. This is definitely something that you will require to do at various times especially when you change the printer roll as it lines up in the labels automatically. You can of course print some test labels just to make sure everything is aligned correctly before you start to print your barcode labels.
You will often find that many software development companies will already have drivers for zebra printers as standard. This is especially true when it comes to barcode solutions and you will need to find this information from the technology company that supplies your systems.
As you may notice from the photograph this particular model homes with an LCD display which allows you to customize various user settings. The interface is very simple to use and I think the manufacturer had taken time to help the user stepped through settings are very easy. You will find the usual general settings for setting up network (TCP/IP) font size and the standards printer settings that you would normally set up on any standard printer.
Zebra also offer maintenance/warranty contracts and you should check with your service provider to see if they offer this product. Generally you will receive a standard one-year warranty. But, because of the price is always advisable to consider taking out extra maintenance crew which in case you need it it just gives you that extra security.
It comes with 16 MB of SDRam memory which a resume can be expanded if needed. It also hosts the ability to print from XML files and has a side door on the side of the printer for easy loading of media. We checked out a number of websites to see what consumers have taught at this and came across some positive ratings and read some positive reviews of the device.
