Vtech LS6217 Cordless Phone
I started looking at one of these Vtech LS6217 cordless phones last week because my present one I’ve had for a number of years I started to give them problems with interference from static and other wireless devices around my home and neighboring houses. The problem with the older unit is that it works on the 2.4 Ghz frequency which I think is becoming more saturated where I live the moment and causing interference on many cordless phones.
Vtech have a number of really good to cordless phones available at present. This particular one the LS6217 cannot be upgraded to more than one handset so it is very limited if you want to expand into future. However you can find it at extremely good value at present and I like the fact that it is working on DECT 6.0 technology.
You’ll find that many phone work on the 5.8 GHz which is the next stage to try and prevent interference on the 2.4 GHz phones which is becoming an issue. At present there are not many wireless technologies using 5.8 GHz (although many wireless routers are starting to do this now) the great thing about DECT 6.0 is that it is dedicated to phone communications and without getting too technical to have some features that are on TV it will not suffer the same fate as 5.8 GHz will do in the future.
If you’re looking for a cordless phone my personal advice is to look in the DECT 6.0 range. You may also want to look at a handset that you can expand and add further handsets at a later stage if required. Look for caller ID, call waiting, speakerphone, voice mail and all the features that you would expect. Many of the cordless phones now available on the money these features are standard.
