Best Multifunction Printer
It wasn’t that long ago when you had to have a different piece of computer equipment to do the same functions as a multifunction printer can do. Having a fax machine, scanner, photocopier and printer in the same box is a big money saver and a space saver. You must however I really couldn’t understand and of the capabilities of these machines a multifunction printer or also called MFPs to have limitations on what they can do. Don’t get me wrong they are quite adequate for doing necessary printing but if you are looking for a high-resolution scanner and possibly need is some sort of advanced faxing features than the multifunction option is not for you.
All-in-one do however save some space and ease you require one for home we all know how vital this can be. One of the main issues that people find with multifunction printers is speed. They can be quite slow when it comes to their print and copy speeds especially if you decide to buy one that is going to print in color. When you go to review whichever particular model you are going to purchase to make sure that you understand how many PPM (pages per minute) it can print. This of course is not necessarily a drawback for many people because in many only do some home printing and are not necessarily looking for the quickest and top-quality printer and what they might just use basic scanning and printing out the odd document. You will find that some of these printers can print pages anywhere between 30 and 12 pages per minute.
Unfortunately it’s a fact that the more memory that is in the printer when you go to purchase it more expensive it will be. Generally for home use a printer that comes with 8 MB of memory is quite adequate, this would even work perfectly well if you work in a small office. If however you do a lot of printing and especially work on large documents a multi-users connected you’ll need to ensure that whichever model you choose that it has adequate memory in order to do the job quickly.
You’ll find that most multifunction printers will fax at 33 kbps, which should be good enough for most people’s needs. There are however some that offer lower speeds such as be aware that it will take a more time to fax something when required. If you’re looking for any extra feature for faxing for example color faxing, group dialing you need to make sure that the all in one printer you choose has these.
It is one thing you need to make sure the printer comes with it’s an automatic document feeder. The last thing you want to do is to stand beside the printer feeding shingle sheet of paper into it. You’ll find that some of the lower-priced multifunction printers will not have this so you need to make sure you have something that can hold possibly 50 sheets of paper this will save you so much time having to stand there feeding sheets of paper into the machine when you can probably be much more productive.
Network connectivity can be a key area to make sure you look at also. We are now finding out more on more of these types of printers are now coming with wireless so starting to move away from Ethernet cables and serial cables and making it much easier for laptops and your standard desktop with WiFi cards to easily connect. Most of the major manufacturers like Epson, Canon, Hewlett-Packard, Lexmark, and Brother unsure of what is whose name I cannot remember are all supporting wireless printing now.
Before you purchase you need to make sure that you read some reviews and/or simply walk into a store and buy one. You need to make sure it has to suspect that you’re looking for maybe you want one that comes with an LCD screen make sure it has software to work with your Mac also make sure that you read some rating reviews from users such as we understand not just the initial costs but the ongoing costs also we all tend to look at the prices of items on the shelf without actually taking the time to understand the ongoing costs of printing.
Make sure you read the specifications and understand how this will function. If you do go to a store make sure you test it in each of the functions separately so scanning, faxing, copying and printing. Hopefully by doing this you will be able to purchase a printer for your needs whether it is for a small office or home.
