Mobile Phone Tracking
A couple of years ago the cost of being able to track a mobile phone was something that many people believed may not be possible. This technology is now available and in use by business, being able to locate the whereabouts of employees during their day-to-day business hours is vital for some companies. Knowing the exact location of her career making a delivery is a type of service and some companies provide it allows them to then inform their customers the position of a particular parcel and let them know when it will.
It’s really interesting that this type of service is available and we are starting to see it come into the mainstream arena to be used by the public. Sometimes it is nice to make a simple phone call and find out where somebody is but by using GPS technology it can be easy to locate a particular person if they wish to be found. Of course there are privacy issues here at play and many of them providers at present providing this type of mapping service require application software to be installed on your phone in order to subscribe to the service.
I’m not aware of many cellphone carriers offering this at the moment but there are plenty of third party companies and the biggest of them all is probably Google who are offering free GPS tracking software that will work with their mapping application so you can locate friends and acquaintances using this service. It only works if you have subscribed to it so at present I don’t see many proofs see issues.
GPS is a really interesting technology, which has been around since the 1980s when it was made available to the public from the US military. We are also starting to see the integration between GPS and WiFi. We’re also starting to see the integration of GPS and cameras which will now record the GPS location of your photograph which is embedded into the picture file.
This type of technology of course will help people track the location of a phone if it has been lost for example. But, this was the early adopters we will start to see it used more for social needs and of particular use to business needs as a present it is only the tip of the iceberg with what is available.
