Is Wireless Internet Secure?
This is a really good question and one that can be answered in a number of way and something that many of us are concerned about especially security wise and hackers gaining access to our network. Wireless networking has evolved over the past number of years and I’m sure many of you reading this have been able to connect to various wi-fi access points without any problems from your home computer.
Of the most popular forms of access and the web over wifi is mainly used by people at home using their LAN router which may also have wireless card built-in which will then give you the freedom of been able to connect with your laptop to the Internet. You can also install some firewall software on Windows computers that again will give you the added security in knowing that it is more difficult for anybody to gain access to your home computer.
Most home wifi networks work on 802.11b or 802.11g and you can have any number of computers connected to this at the same time this obviously gives you and your family and freedom to use them all at the same time. Every PC will have different IP address which your router using DHCP normally gives out.
Many major cities to offer free wireless access to the Internet. You simply need to just browse for available networks or otherwise known as a hotspot. Once you have a signal you should be able to connect easily over the air. You may find these in coffee shops restaurants who are trying to encourage customers to come in and relax and checking e-mail or access the Web whilst on their premises. In this new digital age it is great to have the freedom to be able to do this.
