NEC N-06A is a Phone and Wireless Access Point

Submitted by Mark Dunne on May 19, 2009 – 3:17 pmNo Comment

This is the NEC N-06A which is set to be released on the NTT DoCoMo network in Japan. It looks like a regular mobile phone book besides making calls it can also double as a wireless access point which is just a little bit unusual rather cutting edges.

To enable this as a wireless access point you simply select AP mold on the handset, it uses a Atheros AR6002 module. Once you have enabled it as an wifi access point and then any other device you have whether this is a netbook, laptop or PC can go online via the handset. It is kind of an ingenious idea having a phone with access point built into it as it saves trying to locate cables.

The other specifications on the phone are it comes with an 8.1 megapixel camera, a generous size 3.2 inch touchscreen which gives a resolution of 854 x 480. So far there is no pricing available but this looks really interesting and probably something we will never see this other world for about 10 years.
