Nokia Locate Sensor – Sounds like a good idea
I was reading about this the other day and found it very interesting. At CES in Las Vegas this week Nokia where showing off a project from their R&D team called Nokia Locate Sensor. The idea behind the project is to help people track and find things using a tiny devise.
As you can see from the picture it’s like a tag and the idea is you can leave this where you want to find it, so for example leave one in your car and you’ll be able to find it in the car park in liffey valley after shopping all day but you forget where you left the car. You could attach one to your keys and it will help you locate them when they have fallen down the back of the sofa. All you do it start the application on your Nokia phone of course and it will locate the item.
The sensor doesn’t relies on GPS so will work indoor, it works on a simple wireless signal that can be tracked from 100 meter.
It kind of reminds me of those whistling key rings that we had years ago when you attached one to your key you just whistled and it would beep and you would find them down the back of the sofa. Expect to hear more about this later this year when Nokia are expected to release this.
